Recruit Class Eligibility

Recruits MUST be affiliated with a Kentucky Fire Department, paid or volunteer.

• Individuals are not permitted to reserve a spot on their own for the Recruit Class. All reservations must come from a Chief or Training Officer of a Kentucky Fire Department. The Fire Academy of Kentucky will only communicate with that Chief or Training Officer until the recruit is officially enrolled. ​

• The Chief or agency assumes a financial responsibility should the recruit be expelled or resign from the class. (Details provided during reservation process).
   

Recruit MUST be 18 years of age with a valid driver's license by first day of class.
 

Recruit MUST have a valid, in-date CPAT card.
 

Recruits lodge onsite Monday-Friday during the 13-week class. All meals provided.
 

Recruits should be physically prepared to participate in daily physical exercise, and strenuous hands-on training in all weather and live-fire environments.
